Unglazed, hand-built flat kyusu from Sekiryu kiln, Tokoname.
Kyusu made by using red clay that has been fired twice in low-oxygen conditions, using a pottery technique known as "reduction firing" to oxidize and darken the clay. The bicoloration is obtained by covering part of the teapot with rice husks during firing, preserving its natural red colour.
A bold, elegant vessel designed for brewing high-quality Japanese teas.
Volume: 140ml.
