Hojicha Powder is a popular and delicious Japanese staple tea ingredient, ideal for blended drinks and desserts.

We now offer Hojicha powder in 3 different levels of roasting:

  • Medium Roast
  • Light Roast
  • Dark Roast

Please choose according to taste.

Medium Roast is our most popular blend, having a well-rounded taste and a good balance between roasted flavour and a slight nutty/chocolate aftertaste.

Light Roast is our most delicate and aromatic blend, made by lightly roasting green tea stems. This blend has an incredibly inviting aroma, featuring a mild roasted fragrance, light floral aromas, and a prominent lingering nuttiness.

Dark Roast is our strongest and boldest Hojicha. In this blend, the strong level of roast has transformed all the more subtle and fresh notes of green tea into dark chocolate and coffee-like flavours.

All of these blends are best enjoyed when blended with milk into Hojicha Latte or mixed into cakes and fillings for delicious desserts. Not recommended as a tea.

We recommend Hojicha for:

Hojicha Latte:

    1. Sift 2-3g of Hojicha into a bowl
    2. Wet with 30ml of 80°C water and knead into a paste using a Bamboo Whisk or a teaspoon
    3. Warm up 150-200ml of your favourite milk and pour into the paste
    4. Add sweetness if preferred (a little amount of sugar or honey helps to give to the drink more body and a more round flavour)
    5. Enjoy your Hojicha Latte.

    Iced Hojicha Latte:

      1. Sift 2-3g of Hojicha into a bowl
      2. Wet with 30ml of water and knead into a paste using a Bamboo Whisk
      3. Add a few ice cubes into the bowl
      4. Add 150-200ml of your favourite milk (cold) and some sweetness if preferred (a little amount of sugar or honey helps to give to the drink more body and a more round flavour)
      5. Enjoy your Iced Hojicha Latte.
